SYDNEY, Dec 28 AAP - Family and friends of David Iredale are gathering at a northern
Sydney church to farewell the teenager who died while on a bushwalk in the Blue Mountains.

The 17-year-old's Sydney Grammar School classmates have formed a guard of honour at
the entrance to the Parish of Christ Church in St Ives, where friends and family have
gathered for a thanksgiving service.

Today's ceremony follows a private cremation service held yesterday.

David's body was found in rugged terrain off a walking track south of Katoomba on December
19, eight days after he was reported missing.

It was a tragic end to a search that began on December 11 when David phoned to say
he was lost after separating from two friends on the second day of a three-day bushwalk.
