Qld: Bush backlash for Beattie
PETER BEATTIE's Labor team has won a third term of office in Queensland despite a backlash
in the bush.
Labor is poised to hold 63 seats -- a loss of three on its 2001 result -- with the
Nationals taking 16, the Liberals four, One Nation one and independents picking up five
seats in the 89 seat parliament.
The coalition achieved a 4.5 per cent two-party preferred swing on the back of concern
over sugar industry reform, land clearing restrictions and cuts to country racing.
