QLD: Visitor arrested with undeclared funds
BRISBANE, Aug 23 AAP - A Japanese visitor was arrested at Cairns airport today after
he was found to be carrying undeclared cash to the value of about $A130,000, police said.
The man, who arrived on a Qantas flight from Japan, was search by Federal Police who
found he had several million yen in his suitcase.
An Australian Federal Police spokesman said: "The money equated to about $130,000 Australian,
a very sizeable amount."
The man was charged under the Financial Transactions Reports Act with carrying undisclosed funds.
He was to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court later today.
